Crime Prevention & Communities Conference

Date: 10 - 11 June 2014

The Crime Prevention and Communities conference, hosted by the Australian Institute of Criminology and the Department of Justice, in partnership with Victoria Police, LGPro and the Municipal Association of Victoria, was held  in Melbourne on 10-11 June 2014. The focus of the conference was Building Better Local Solutions.

National and International speakers addressed the conference on issues such as:

  • Violence prevention
  • Problem solving approaches to crime prevention
  • Engaging and empowering communities

The conference presented an opportunity for local government, urban planners, policy makers, police, criminologists, non-government community organisations, preventing violence against women practitioners, researchers and students to come together and advance their knowledge and thinking around this burgeoning – and successful – area of community safety and security.
