The Koori Community Safety Grants are focused on addressing violence against women and their children in our Koori communities. Over three years, $2.4 million is funding four culturally relevant projects that have a strong emphasis on prevention.
These grants provide opportunities for Koori community groups and organisations to work in partnership with each other and government to address violence in various forms as experienced by the Koori community. This includes lateral violence, family violence, community/family feuding, clan rivalry, inter-generational feuding, same-sex fighting and Elder abuse.
The Koori Justice Unit in the Department of Justice, in partnership with Regional Aboriginal Justice Advisory Committee, is managing the Koori Community Safety grants.
