Community organisations and local councils can apply for grants of up to $500,000 to improve public infrastructure to strengthen community safety, security and confidence in public places.
Applications for funding through the Community Safety Infrastructure Grants are now open and will close on Friday 17 July 2020.
The grants support the delivery of projects that have a primary focus on strengthening public safety and security infrastructure to help prevent crime and improve perceptions of safety using situational or environmental approaches.
Projects that may be eligible for funding include improvements to lighting, physical upgrades to community buildings such as sporting facilities and community centres, and security upgrades to places of worship, and protection measures such as streetscaping or bollards.
Applicants will need to demonstrate a commitment to supporting local or Victorian suppliers, contractors and businesses in the purchase and installation of infrastructure and the delivery of complementary activities.
The Community Safety Infrastructure Grants program is part of the Victorian government’s $2.7 billion Building Works package. The grants program is delivered by the Community Crime Prevention Program which helps promote safety and prevent crime in communities across Victoria.
Further information about these grants, including the grants guidelines, a range of support materials and the online application form, can be found on the Community Safety Infrastructure Grants page.
