The Youth Crime Prevention Grants (YCPG) program is being independently evaluated by Evidence and Insights to contribute to the evidence base around youth crime prevention.
A mid-term evaluation report was completed in early 2020. This focused on progress towards program outcomes of the directed and competitive projects. The evaluation considered outcomes for the 568 young people who had exited the program as at 30 June 2019. The final report of the evaluation is due in December 2021.
Key findings included:
- Young people had lower rates of offending after exiting the program.
- Positive changes in risk and protective factors.
- Partnerships between local agencies remained strong and instrumental to the success of delivery.
- Projects were efficiently delivered.
