The UTURN193 (External link) project received further funding from the Youth Crime Prevention Grants program. The project provides case management and social activities to young people in Melton.

Case managers support participants to:

  • reflect on past behaviours
  • set personal goals, and
  • find the support services specific to their needs.

The aim is to connect vulnerable young people who have had contact with the criminal justice system to the services they need to set them up for positive life pathways.

This new funding builds on the already awarded grant invested in the project since 2016. The project is one of 15 Youth Crime Prevention Grant initiatives sharing in a funding boost for a further year.

The Youth Crime Prevention Grants program helps support young people aged 10 to 24 years who have had contact with or have demonstrated risk of being involved with the justice system.

Projects funded through the program:

  • build on strong community involvement to respond to the needs of local young people
  • address important service gaps and
  • improve access to services for young participants.

This is in line with the Youth Diversion Statement (External link). To date, more than 1500 young people have received support through the projects.
