The Youth Engagement Grants are part of the Victorian Government’s Building Safer Communities Program, a key initiative under the Crime Prevention Strategy which helps promote community safety and prevent crime in communities across Victoria.
The Youth Engagement Grants are open to small multicultural and Aboriginal clubs and organisations to support young people make positive life choices and prevent contact with police and the justice system.
The grants will support projects that use cultural connection, sport, arts, music or other creative activities to engage young people. Young people are broadly defined as being between the ages of 8-24, with a particular focus on those from 8-16 years of age, as this presents a good opportunity to provide early support and help keep young people on the right track. Projects may choose to focus on a particular group or age-range to ensure a targeted focus on the needs of the children and young people participating.
Once young people are engaged through these activities, there is an opportunity to connect them with other supports and services as needed, to achieve the best outcomes.
Up to $50,000 per project over two years.
