One-way screws to help prevent number plate theft are being provided to City of Hume residents as part of the Victorian Government’s Number Plate Theft Reduction Trial.

Free packets of the one-way screws are being distributed at events and venues throughout the municipality for people to take home and fit to their vehicles.

If you have received a screw pack, the short video below provides step-by-step instructions on how to easily fit these to your vehicle.

Residents of Hume can also have the screws installed for free at participating VACC member businesses, or by attending a Safe Plate Day run by Neighbourhood Watch. Further details can be found on our website (External link).

For those outside of the Hume area, one-way screws are available at most hardware stores.

This initiative is funded through the Community Safety Statement 2017 (External link) and aims to reduce number plate theft and related harms.
