The 'Safety Grind - Guidelines for safer skate parks' provide a basis for local government to deliver and manage safer skate parks in Victoria.

The guidelines set out an integrated approach to effective skate park strategy for local government which includes four main pillars: needs assessment, design and location, operations and activations and management and coordination.

The main aim of the guidelines is to engage local government in each of these stages, and to help achieve alignment with other council, community, neighbourhood, parks, open space and child and family strategies. The guidelines also highlight the need to include Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) techniques in skate park design, and the importance of community engagement to ensure a well-used and maintained space.
